Why do I love DV8, you ask? That answer is twofold. First, only because I have to start with one, is the workouts aka WOD’s. Our WOD’s are programmed by a well-known and highly respected coach in the CrossFit world. This guarantees a good workout that is well thought out and produces great results. Each WOD proves to be challenging yet rewarding.
Our coaching staff is amazing and well trained. They work with each athlete (yes everyone is an athlete at DV8) to help them customize the WOD to their ability, making sure everyone gets a workout that challenges them at their level. There are definitely days I come into DV8 and I am just not feeling “it”, but I can always count on the coach and/or the community to motivate me, encourage me, and congratulate me before, during, and after a WOD. That brings me to the second part of my answer, The
Community, aka my FitFam. The workouts are great and all, but I have to say it’s probably more the community that keeps bringing me back.
I got into CrossFit over 3 years ago at DV8. I wanted to flip tires, climb a rope, jump on a box, and most importantly, drop heavy weights. There is just something awesome about doing a lift and then throwing down that barbell when you’re finished. I wasn’t “looking” for friends, or another family, but hell if I didn’t gain the best FitFam a girl could ask for. This was so evident in the Crossfit Open workout 17.4, as the community came out to support all the athletes participating that night. The music was loud, but all I could hear during my 17.4 workout was my FitFam yelling and cheering me on.
